It all begins with an unhinged idea.

When the COVID worldwide lockdown of 2020 happened, it rocked our worlds. Leyla was working predominantly at an Orlando theme park as an actress and Trevor was working in the service industry and doing real estate in Central Florida. We both essentially lost our jobs and had to decide what we were going to do about it.

We started thinking about what we wanted to rest of our lives to look like. That lead us to travel to Belize in January of 2021 (we had already had COVID and this was when everyone blissfully thought you could only get it once). We rented a car and road-tripped around the country for 10 days. We each kept a journal and were both surprised when we realized how comfortable we felt. A few months later, we got pregnant with our daughter and we decided that we wanted something different for her and us. So we started to make a plan…

In August 2023 (after months of searching and some creative financing) we bought our 2011 35’ Coachmen Mirada BH. With zero prior experience, we drove it back to our house and that’s when sh*t got real. We sold most of our belongings and our house in December 2023 and got on the road to never look back. It was a crazy, surreal, unbelievable thing when we think about it, but those first few days just felt like…freedom.

We did a little tour of the southern states for the holidays, visiting family and friends, and then crossed into Mexico at the end of January 2024. And after 5 days of eating tacos for breakfast lunch and dinner, we arrived in our new home. And that’s it in a nutshell. We took a leap and hoped the universe would catch us. Now we’re living a better life than we ever could have expected and could not be happier that we chose to be different.

If you take ANYTHING away from our story, please take this—we were so scared to leave everything we knew. Embracing the unknown can feel overwhelming, but listen to your heart, take that leap, and remember, the bravest thing you can do is face your fears head-on. It's in those moments that you’re really living.
